To the OP, go by the mileage. If you're on the highway you're save going 280-300 gallons no problem. If you're beating the car up on back roads, 200-250 depending on your level of excitement.
At the track, you're lucky to get 100 miles.

This OP is talking about getting down to the last drop on his tank. Scan Gauge allows for that.
That said, day to day, driving 180-200 miles and filling up is no hardship. If you live in a natural deserter zone and ever find yourself without easy access to fuel you won't mind the regular fill ups.

You're driving like those fools I see who run out of gas and look dumb struck "I thought I could go further". Just get some gas and stop being so stupid. Last 2/3 bars is 'empty!'
