My Gas light just turned on today and I have 1/2 tank of 94 Oct. in there. No CELL is present either. Any clue what happened? has anybody had this before?

NVM.. I did some searching and thanks to NFRS2000NYC I got an answer.

" Ive said this many times....the s2000 gas gauge isnt really a "gauge" it is a gauge/trip computer in one. It calculates the TPS and injectory duty, to tell you how much gas you have if you drive a certain way. Adjust the driving, and the gas gauge will move accordingle. I can manipulate the gas gauge at will."

So, did changing your driving effect the gas gauge? Thats some interesting info, but it explains some of the low fuel gague beahvior people talk about.

yep

how does it know when its filled up.. or even if i fill it half way..

if you say it has a measuring device in it.. why go thru all the trouble of using the computer to gauge how much fuel based on TPS and what not

If I have 3 bars left, I've been able to get the low fuel light to come on by just parking at an angle, usually with the passenger side lower than the driver side. This leads me to believe that there is some kind of mechanical device that measures the fuel level in the tank. I may be wrong since I'm no mechanic.

Once the light goes on, I can't get it to turn off. It's really no biggie since I know how many miles I can get out of a full tank and I'm fairly consistent with my driving style.

Ok well I tested it out and I have no clue why the gas light came on at 1/2 tank. Prob cause of a parked angle or something. When I restarted the car the gas light was off. I beat on the car for about 10 min and the gauge dropped from a full tank to 2/3. I let the car sit idle and the gas gauge didnt move. I turned off the car and let it rest about 15min the restarted and the gas gauge showed the same amount of gas 2/3 tank. After babying the car for about 15-20min more the gas gauge went up 1 bar.

lol... so in conclusion.... I have no clue what is going on.... perhaps something is faulty.
