Gas Cap Problem?
One recent morning my CEL came on and I checked the code and got what I believe is nine long and no short blinks. I could not find this exact code in a search, but I found another site had a code similar that was related to the gas tank. I always turn the gas cap for many more clicks than required so I don't think that is the problem. I reset the light and filled up the tank and the light went away until the tank was down about halfway. I am wondering if anyone has had a problem with the seal at the cap going?

I'm currently having the same gas cap problem. I notice that my gas cap will start clicking way before it actually seals. I found that if I push in while turning the gas cap I can get it tight, but sometime it clicks while it is tightening.
I plan on going to the dealer to get a new one, just haven't had a chance yet.

I think the threads are messed up in my gas cap. It goes in about half way and then gets very hard to turn -- usually clicks. But a little playing with it and it then turns the rest of the way. Most of the time. I may need a new one.

try this...when you tighten your gas cap use the edge of it not the little knob on top. you'll feel the cap get tighter when you do it that way.
since i started doing that ..no problems.

There is a Honda service bulletin, (04-002) which addresses this problem for MY 02 & some MY 03's. Some vehicles came with fuel filler tubes with deformed threads for the gas cap. As a result the cap can click before it's seated, causing the check engine light to come on. The fix is to replace the filler neck.
