Gas bars isn't showing up after pump
So I went to pump $11 (about 2.9gal ) premium gas into my car and my gas bar is still showing up at 2bars. On the way home it went up to 3 then 4, 5 and now 6. It been about 5 hours since I pumped some gas into it. Yes I did search the forums before writing this and most of them ended up with "how many mileage do you get with no gas bars" or something similar to it. Does this mean something is wrong with a sensor or something and is this normal? MY02 and 84.4k mileage and clear title.

It seems so. I drove by speed limits detector all the time and I check using that. Nah I haven't done any of those. Only thing I did to the car was test pipe, HKS dual exhaust, k&n intake, got tranny fluid and diff fluids changed and sound system, but those were months ago and it just happened today for the first time.

u might have to check ur fuel mechanism in ur fuel tank. It's a pain in the butt getting to it. U will hav to check the fuel leveler if something came loose n is pushing it or jamming it. mayb someone here can chime in and solve it before you hav to get to it.

IT's probably the fuel sending unit inside the tank. The sending unit has a floating bar which uses ohms (electrical resistance) to tell the ECM what the fuel level is. These can become worn out and retard performance or make the component incapable of telling the ECM how much fuel is left.
That'd be where I start, followed by testing the cluster and ecm, then the wires in the electrical diagram. I don't think a ground is loose.

If you're going to fill the tank, fill the tank all the way. Running low on fuel is hard on the fuel pump. Who puts $11 of gas in a car these days? I remember when that was a fill up but common, 3 gallons.
Furthermore the system wasn't designed for accuracy like you're expecting. Fill the tank to full and let the system recover. All you've got is very 'little' travel on the measuring system due to low volume of fuel.
It's not a mod problem. FYI I've had a half tank, done some very hard driving and the system reported a full tank. Within a few hours of driving it had come back down to just a little under half.
The people who talk about the number of miles to a tank are silly. All that matters is MPG and is the ONLY measure worth talking about.
