There will be a hondata setup for our cars in due time.I know this because i called hondata a few weeks ago and specifically asked about it.They told me they were working on it.If anyone has doubts, give hondata a call.
Doug Macmillan (co-founder of Hondata) is standing next to me in my office as I type this:

UL - "Doug, planning on doing an S2000 ECU?"

Doug - "No"

UL - "Any timeframe on the RSX conversion?"

Doug - "No, there's a difference between wanting to do something and having the time and resources to do it in a cost effective manner. There is nothing in the pipeline at the moment. While we will continue to investigate options, please don't call us asking for solutions because we don't have one. The problem is that the S2000 ECU is the only one in Honda's range that is not programmable."

I hope that clears things up folks. I typed as he spoke.

I'd like to see a future S w/ an i-vtec engine making around 280bhp...now that'd be nice!!! I agree, the F20C/F22C doesn't quite have the capability of the K-series, but I don't think it's as maxed out as everyone says.

Sounds like its time for a K20 transplant to an AP1.

That's kinda what I'm thinking.

I'd imagine it'd be expensive.

Almost certainly not true. If I recall the s2k head has been shown to be one of the the best flowing heads around. Everyone goes gaga over the I-Vtec but really it only helps mid range low end breathing. THe reason that aftermarket parts much more power with the K20 is the R&D involved. Think about how huge the market is. There are alot of players spending alot of money to develope aftermarket products for the k20. The f20/f22 is such a small market that there isn't nearly as much money involved in R&D.

I feel an i-vtec F22C would be an improvement as I do not look solely at peak numbers. Yes, vtc does help mostly in the mid-range department, but that also provides more area under both power and tq curves. Including vtc into the s2k would make it a better all-around car, that can perform better than current during normal or mildly aggressive driving while not sacrificing performance at the top-end. It will also broaden the usable powerband and make the s2k a better contender at the track (hp sells cars, tq wins races...and tho s2k's get great times when no one's on the track with them, they don't have the powerband and tq to make passes on cars like the 350z). The only con would be added rotational weight, which isn't as big a concern since we're not revving to stratospheric levels. Tho the F20/22C head is great, the K20A has more potential as an engine overall...not surprising necessarily since it is considerably newer. Once vtc is integrated into the s2k engine, it'll once again be top dog in the I4 world.

with the compact F series head, it'll be a challenge to get the VTC component. The cam gears are small and I'm guessing Honda didn't want to make a mini-VTC gear for a low production car at the end of its life.

I almost ran the K-pro Hondata in my car, It can be done some one just needs to do it so they can test it out. You have to change a couple sensors in the motor to make it operate. Those parts are made by honda and are expensive. The cost will probably be just shy of $2K, plus however much dyno time you need. Is it worth it? thats up to you i only see a big advantage if you are FI, I'll probably end up using E - Manage.
