The gasket creates the primary seal, so no teflon tape is required.

Hey Mac,

Did you ever find out why yours broke when we installed it?

Yeah, it's soft brass that was never meant to be tightened to the same torque as the stock oil bolt. They suggest snugging it up by hand with a small wrench, that's it. The second one has been on there since one oil change after the first attempt without issue.

Old post, I know - but it had the right title and it kept me from making a new thread.

Here's my question:

What is "better" to use..........a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve - OR - a Spoon Magnetic drain plug?

I was all set to get the Fumoto until I did an oil change with anther owner (who had a Spoon plug).
He had quite a bit of metal shavings attached to the magnet, and it instantly made me re-think the Fumoto. I contacted FumotoValve and they do not offer a magnetic at all. My thought was that IF the Fumoto were magnetic, I could remove it every 3rd or 4th change to clean off the shavings - but otherwise have the convenience of the quick release.

Now I am a bit confused on which was to go.

Any relevant thoughts?
Hockey
