Try the FRAM drainvalve... its great... works like a an air valve but with oil coming out instead of air, lol... it's a LOT safer too (ie: Gives you confidence your oil isnt coming out during a drive)... and it has a double seal... one is a push button stainless steel spring piece (only activated by the extra tube piece you use when draining the oil) and the second is a cap piece to protect from debris and dirt (it also serves as an extra seal)

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the S2000 and to the forum, and I'd hate to sound like a smart ass on my first post, but why not just shim the Fumoto until it points straight up?

Every time you add a shim, you're increasing the number of items that can slip and loosen, as well as decreasing the number of threads contacting each other with friction. Whether or not it matters, I don't know. Works just fine pointing down, so I could also care less.

Probably just a matter of personal preference. Having it face down would bug the hell out of me. Most threaded joints will develop their full strength with only three threads engaged anyway, so I'll shim mine and see if it stays on past the end of the driveway.

I guess I should have asked where others were pointing before I tried to tighten it to much. You live and learn. Thanks for the responses and concerns.

One question, do you think they will let me retun it?

Yes.

Give it a try. It is still brand new, so you have a pretty good chance. Heck at $30+ for the darn thing, I would at least try!

I don't remember how thick the gasket is, but maybe you could find a thinner one.

Try using a new crush washer instead of their washer. It's thick enough that it may create a better position.
