Fumoto drain valve busted
I did my first oil change last night and all went very smooth except when it was time to install my Fumoto drain valve. I put on the adapter screwed it on. The problem was the valve lever was sticking down, which is bad. I unscrewed it and tried starting it several other points but it always ended up at the same spot. Here is where I got stupid. I took the adapter washer off and did the whole thing over and this time it ended up perfect. I left mine where it tightened up and it is in the down position - I have an Xbrace that protects it and I have had no problems! sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I just bought one too, but am waiting for my next oil change to install it. I was reading the instructions, and it does say to not torque it too much b/c it is made of softer brass...
Sorry to hear about your problem though...

Mine points towards the bottom, and I warned of tightening too much in a previous thread (same thing happened to mine when some friends were installing it). This is soft brass, NOT steel...tighten by hand only (no torque wrenches), and snug it up only, don't lean into it.

It took a few tries, if I remember, but mine is installed with the valve lever up and slightly toward the front of the car. I can reach down between the engine and the heat shield to open it!
