Fuel pump won't start - Shop says I need new ECU
I posted my problems about my fuel pump not starting a couple of months ago, the car has basically been sitting for a while now, and I finally got off my ass and towed it to a shop.
Anyway, the shop says they're 99% sure my ECU is dead. I don't see how this could happen when the car hasn't been touched my anyone for months. So, i'm wondering if maybe the ECU isn't communicating with the immobilizer in the chip?
The shop seems to think that if I provide them with another ECU they can see if that's the cause of my problems. But, if I were to buy another ECU, I would need it to be reprogrammed by a dealer correct? Could the immobilizer in the key go bad? Is there a way to know if the ECU is burnt out or if there is a short in the system? Thanks

PM me and I will give you some instruction on how to test the ecu. I'll explain in PM why I won't discuss in open forum.
