Right...if the top is folded, it lays over the tray (item in step 1 that you have to remove).

BTW...if getting the tray out is like getting kicked in the nuts, putting it back in is like shocking your nuts with a tazer.

After you do this, you are going to want to fly to Japan and kick the ship out of the S engineering staff! Get a service manual (there is a free one online) and follow the steps. Be prepared to spend the day on this and if you are not a small person, get one!

so do you just take the tray off and slide it thru the trunk or thru the inside of the car?

which way is the easiest to get to the fuel pump thru the inside of the car or the trunk?

The tray is easier to pull out through the trunk once you have pulled all the plastic rivets holing it in place.

It will be easier to get to the pump from inside the car. The fuel filler hoses will get in the way if you try to get to the pump from in the trunk.

I ran across this thread while searching re: my Greddy install tonight.

In case anyone else searches their way here, I found the easiest way to remove those rivets in the plastic tray is to use a small flat-head screwdriver to pry up one side and then slip thin needle nose pliers in behind. Squeeze and pull and it's out, minimal damage.

...On the other hand, breaking the first one was deeply satisfying.

My hands are still healing from swapping mine out. Try doing it around a hard dog rollbar. Order a Helm's manual. It walks you through the process step by step.

actually if you PUSH the center dot with a allen key, it releases the fastener completely...

I completely agree with you there.

- and remember to remove your windscreen... I've no idea how you could get this done with out that step.

I just put a walbro 255 in mine. After I dropped the tray through the trunk, I did the rest of the work from the trunk. It took about 2 hour total. I kept stopping though. Its hot as hell here. I had to stop and towel the sweat of every few mins lol.
