Default Fuel Pressure Sensitivity

I am wondering how critical is the fuel pressure for our cars? My car had an intermitent engine bogging under load and I went thru many hours of troubleshooting because I did not have a code to work with for a while so I started by cleaning the IAC valve and this made the car run perfect for about a week then all of a sudden the engine bogging was back but this time with a check engine light on P0172 Rich conditions. My car has an after market pressure regulator which was placed before my time so I did not have any reason to beleive this could be the cause since the car ran fine before. So what I did was lower the fuel pressure a few pounds because troubleshooting the code indicated fuel pressure could cause the condition the fuel gauge is on the rail as a permanent part so I suspect it could be off by a few pounds thus my first question. The car has been running fine with no bogging for a full week now but I am hesitant to claim a fix yet. I would like to get some of your guys thoughts.

BTW this is an AP1.
