So let's try this: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/805...ock-fpr-thing/
thats called a pulsation dampener. it tries to keep the pressure inside the rail steady while the injectors are opening and closing and creating imbalances and pulses. they prolong the life of the injector and help control the entering and exiting fuel pressure. basically they try and keep the fuel steady and constant.
if the screw has fallen out, it has become useless as they are set from the factory at a precise rate. time to get a new one.

Would make sense but the car is no longer in production

Oh, are you implying there is something unique about the S2000 fuel system that doesn't require a fuel pulsation damper while other Honda 4 cylinder engines that are currently in production do require a fuel pulsation damper?

The damper is there to prevent vapor lock, there's a rubber diaphragm inside it, the screw holds it. The damper is smooth inside so there's no way for the diaphragm to rip if the screw is missing. It's meant to work with the screw, but the diaphragm can do it's job without it.

Been having a slight rattle I've been trying to track down, was hoping it was this screw coming loose since it sounds pretty common but when I got home and checked... that was not it mine was tight
