Obviously he's putting it into his fuel tank, not his oil.

Byproducts of the combustion process, like fuel and dirt, all end up in the oil... so he uses the cleaners before his usual oil change schedule.

Thanks for the responses. Actually, my gf brought it home from Costco for her 2011 Subaru Outback. She thinks it is running rough and is louder than the first 100,000 miles. We run Top Tier fuel in our vehicles. I"m not convince this stuff will help, but it can't hurt unless it's a waste of money. For $10.00/6 quarts, there's not a lot to lose. I'm going to read up on the oil guy page. I've not taken fuel injectors out. Time to study the book once more.

no one reasonably has the time to get non-top tier gas and add some additive to every tank. probably not cost effective either.

get the top tier. add the additive once in a while for some extra cleaning duty.
