Default front wheels hard to turn when jacked up

so i have a few problems,
loud grinding sound coming from under the car,
the rear prop shaft boot is gone and greese is everywhere,

and after driving it for less than five minutes of this grinding the front wheel on the drivers side was smoking hot

also when the car was jacked up the front wheels were hard to turn, ideas ?

let me know what you guys think it could be, winner gets coffee for a week on me via paypal

Which side is the boot gone from? Though it shouldn't affect the front tire.

My guess is either wheel bearing or stuck brake caliper. Both can heat up the rim like crazy though I'm not sure if a wheel bearing can get so bad that it's hard to turn the wheel by hand.

Wait, front wheel(s)!?!??! Both? Check the brakes would be my best guess actually.

Don't know if I'm correct but the power steering is off when your car is jacked up im assuming so its not helping you turn. How hard is it to turn? Like, use your whole body to turn it? Or just takes a little bit more muscle than when the car is on? As for front wheel being hot, I would check to see what above guy said. Brake might've seized?

I think he means turn the wheels as in roll them not steer but then I could be completely wrong. When the front wheels are lifted up steering should be very easy.

if only one side is hot id assume the caliper is frozen.. Id take the wheel and caliper off and inspect it to make sure the piston is operating. Could be a busted brake line or air...or just frozen

And like another poster said it could also be the wheel bearing...but dont know why you would have grease everywhere from a wheel bearing ? take some pics
