bumping an old-ish thread...
i've been getting a noise recently that i first attributed to worn out tires (ecsta xs are sticky as hell, but at 5400 mi i'm almost at the wear bars!)
however, the noise seems to be coming from the front of the car. it's definitely speed related; i start noticing it around 25 or 30 mph, it gets faster up til about 65 mph, then wind/road/etc noise drown it out.
it's like a wa wa wa wa wawawawawwwwwwaaaaa.... (got no real way to describe it)
i was hoping it was my passenger rear bearing (since i have a new one sitting on my shelf), but damn it seems to be coming from the front of the car. clutch in or out, in gear or neutral, doesn't matter. only factor is the wheels turning.
i had no idea front wheel bearings were going out on our cars (there isn't much talk about them), but i'm gonna jack it up tomorrow and see if i can tell anything. i don't know if anyone is still watching this thread, but i'll update with whatever i find out

it's barely noticable.... but noticable enough to piss me off.

The noises you describe do indeed sound like a wheel bearing.
Typically it's the rear wheel bearings that go in the S, but that's not to say that the occasional failure or problem cannot develop elsewhere and for no obvious good reason ( defective bearing, seal came loose and/or dirt got inside, etc.).
Quick test, go for a short drive using the brakes as little as possible. Pull the center caps off your wheels and feel the middle. Is one side (or the side you think is the problem) hot, or significantly hotter than the other side? If so, it's a wheel bearing.
Not that you should let it go forever, but the good thing to know is that this is not an 'emergency repair'. You can drive on a wheel bearing that is going bad for quite a long time. They almost never just break or seize, they just get noisier, hotter, and cause you to lose some efficiency (don't track it though).
You should get it fixed if it's the problem, but you can do it on your schedule.

i replaced my drivers' rear bearing a year or so ago...when i figured out what it was, it was making the metallic squeak sound that becomes apparent at low speeds after the bearing is warmed up.
i never heard the noise i'm hearing now when my rear bearing went bad...this just sounds like tire noise...sort of, and it really sounds like it's coming from the front. i just can't figure out why my front tires would be making noise

Did you do the temp check I suggested?
Also, if the bearing is getting bad enough to worry about you should be able to hear it at 5-10 mph and the noise will alternately come and go if you weave your car a bit at those low speeds.

Also when you put weight on it, ie turning. should change the noise
s2kobession is running 275's on the front and is a trackstar, i'm surprised only his bearings are going

I think I've got the same problem as you guys. It's like a wuh wuh wuh sound coming from the front. I thought it might have been the tires but it seems to be getting a little louder everytime I drive it. It also gets louder if I take a hard turn.
