front clunk
So long story short I have coilovers installed about 2k miles ago. I watched the tech do the work he started at pass front and immediatly had issues. He was trying to separated the upper ball joint to drop the knuckle before his supervisor came over and said this is s2000 your doing it wrong just loosen the 17mm nuts and move it over. Well while using pickle to try to separate boot it ripped and he said no big deal my civic has grease coming out its fine. I'm like ok whatever. Well about a month or so later I got this slight clunk thinking my struts were blown. Over the course of the next month and last couple weeks its every bump every stop. So today was last straw I jacked up car to check every boot and end link and sure enough theres grease on the boot that he pried and its not flush. Can this be the root of my clunk? The other side is bone dry. Lastly I checked upper a arm part numbers pass side is the same on all years but driver side is different. My car is 06 is it ok to use ap1 since the damage is my pass side and p/n are the same ap1 vs ap2?. Should I buy new or used isok?

Is it loose? Grab onto it and give it a go. Don't forget to move it up and down. BTW you should never use a pickle fork to remove a ball joint. There are much better ways.

I checked them with no load on the bar. The only variable was the boot incident I rember and the only area that is suspect with grease and dirt is that boot. Everything looks tight and dry no wheel bearing wiggle or wobble. And I can't put enough stress on the arm to reproduce noise by hand as my 12k spring allows 0 movement. I think that is my problem I think davgoat. S2kioe has one he'll send me and ill report and hope that's the prob. 90% sure as this is a gradual issue as the greasr leaked and bearings wore. Didn't happen immediatley because there was grease in there for months after he ripped it

Dude go back now and have the shop replace the UPPER A-ARM since that is really the only way to fix it. Im sure since it was just recently broken you can get a new boot, but I would make them replace the entire part. That is completely unprofessional. Just giving you a heads up because I just had to replace my entire a-arm due to a busted boot. They do not sell OEM upper ball joints. Not saying there isnt an aftermarket alternative though

I talked to shop owner. Hes going to check it out. Meanwhile I sourced one from s2kioeparts (David) with 32k on it for a good price. Hope the shop covers it since I know them well and owner is an s2k owner as well.
