Free loud exhaust mod??
The following modification was done to my bike with no problems. If I wanted louder sound from the stock exhaust system, would the following procedure work with the S2000? I'd like to know what others think before trying it on my new ride.
Drill a 1/4" hole into the exhaust line 1" from the front of the mufflers. This would allow sound to exit before going through the muffler. If I didn't like the sound or if the car needed to be serviced at Honda, I could plug the hole using a srew or a hose clamp. Different size holes would result in the change of tone and would also be less restrictive.
Thanks for your input.

Welcome to the sight
now bout your question, IMO I couldn't think of a worse way to address exhaust tone issues with this car. All I can think of when I read your post was how crappy a car sounds with a leaky exhaust. Of course it IS your car and drill away if you like..
There are a number of quality exhausts with varying tones to suite most needs, and I would recommend looking into that route. You are fortunate to live in an area with a number of owners and should be able to hear diff brands for yourself.

A M/C exhaust is short and has relatively large piping for the size of the motor, which, in most sport bikes, is around 1L or less (down to 600cc or so). This displacement pushes much less exhaust volume (NOT in terms of sound) and you may be able to get away with punching a hole before the muffler. Besides, M/Cs tend to be disproportionately louder than a car, so any noises as a result of holes drilled would be drowned out anyway. If you take a look at some bike exhausts, they already have a hole at the lowest point in the exhaust system for water drainage.
If you drill a hole in our exhaust, you won't be letting out that much "sound" but rather, you'd be letting out gases. You may simply end up with an S2000 that sounds like it has an exhaust leak (hhssssssssssssss............).
Give it a try. It's your car. Then come back and tell us what you think.
