Found this sitting on top of driver side motor mount (IM side of motor). Anyone know what it is?

Hoping the pics show up now (see first post).
My guess is this is a sensor of some sort. Maybe the knock sensor (never seen one, so not sure). A sensor with a plastic top half, that has been broken off, leaving only the metal portion, and which was replaced by careless mechanic, who let it drop to its resting place atop the motor mount, instead of discarding it. This is probably also the idiot that broke the sensor in the first place.
I am the only one that works on my car (except for tires and alignments), so this would have occurred with PO. No telling how long this thing has been there, except that it left an oddly shaped polished pattern from it dancing around in place for so long.
I am told the PO had the clutch replaced. I found damage to the console and shift boot retainer, presumably from morons trying to figure out how to remove it. So wouldn't be a big surprise if they broke the knock sensor too.
