Flush engine oil?
#1
I've been reading up on oil changes and came across flush engine oils. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to use these on the first oil change. However, the site I read about these says they can cause damage to some engines....
So, Is it all right to flush the F20 on the first oil change? on any oil change?
Is it a good idea to do this?
Now this topic may have been covered before. Wouldn't surprise me in the least. But, I searched for "engine oil flush" and didn't come up with anything related.... So, please just answer the question. Thanks!
BTW, the site I read about this is: http://www.geocities.com/chrislonghurst/en...eoil_bible.html
Again thanks!

A "flush engine" oil is a kerosene based product that can only be run through the system briefly. It is easy to damage your engine as the kerosene has low lubricity. Flush oils are usually used when oil level has gotten low and the oil has "cooked" or broken down. It is principally for removing sludge from the lubrication system. If you change your oil regularly you will never have a need for a flushing oil.

In my experience this practice is not at all needed and for those that actually start the engine in the process, damaging. Any solvent residue left in the engine is more damaging than a little dirty oil. I have rebuilt a number of engines and can tell you that the ones that have had regular premium oil and filter changes have NO build-up or sludge. I see no reason to do this on most engines especially a new one.
