Fluid change results
This is not a scientific thread.
I changed to 10-30 Amsoil and to LE 607 dif fluid this past week (I stayed with the "new" Honda MTF). I have 17K miles and I feel that both the engine and the differential are smoother. I was getting a moan out the differential during tight right and left low speed turns and that has now gone away. The engine seems to rev with less noise that what I was used to. All in all I'm pleased with the results and don't mind the extra cost. I figure that I'll go 5-6K miles on the engine and 10K for the transmission and differential fluid changes.

As far as the engine oil goes you sure it is not a placebo effect. I have never heard of oil quieting an engine down. Not stating that it is not possible just seems unlikely.
But either way good stuff.

Yes its possible, I run german castrol 0w-30 in my s2k and its makes less noise than before. I also run amsoil 0w-30 in my toyota truck and noticed a small increase in MPG and performance. Amsoil ATM will go 7-10k OCI's if you wanted to leave it in that long

I can definately feel the difference after an oil change....
As for your frequency.... 10K is a bit excessive IMO for the tranny and diff.
That's about the rate for FI setups on the diff and about 3 times as frequent on the tranny.

i can definitley vouch for the noise change in the diff. after switching to 607.
put 607 in my ap1 around 35k miles, that moaning went away.
changed out the stock stuff in my 06 at 5k miles with 607, and the moaning at slow turns completely went away. at 13,5XX miles and its still very quiet.

30 weight oils are +/- 10 cSt.
40 weight oils are +/- 13.5 cSt.
(just to give an idea: water is 1 cSt @ 20C at sea level)
You will notice a 35% thinner oil.
IMO you don't notice the difference between 30 weights.
That said: German Castrol is known for being a "thick" 30 weight at 12.xx cSt so switching to, lets say, Shell Helix Ultra X 0W-30 @ 9.6 cSt you may notice it.
LE-607 is excactly the right spec of diff oil.
Good stuff
