Floor jack and jackstands question
#31
It seems most of the posts are related to the Floor Jack . . . any thoughts on the appropriate stands? Does Sears sell stands? What should we look for when buying? Are they rated by weight?

Anyway, I just installed an exhaust for another member last night. Drive the car (rear tires) up onto a couple of 2X8's so it gives the jack a better chance of reaching the rear jacking point (this would be the "pumpkin"). (Make sure you chock the front wheel(s). Once up in the air, put one jackstand under each rear/side jacking point. These are just in front of each rear tire along that stiff metal ridge. Lower the car down onto the jackstands. I left the floor jack in place and holding some of the car's weight as a precaution, although this is not really necessary.
