you honda technician is right, i had a spring barely pop out of my old integra and same thing happenned. im willing to bet a dollar its the clutch, my buddy also had a piece of metal shard from where the spring sits on the disc get dislodged and stuck somewhere and same thing happened.

it definitely sounds like a broken spring, but do as others have said first, and check for leaks as the MC and SC. Make sure they are both working properly, then move on to blame the clutch disk. diagnosing the MC and SC first are much easier and cheaper, so get those out of the way.

I've had clutch springs break on two different cars and they both exhibited the same symptoms.

Your clutch master cylinder may be bypassing fluid. Had a similar issue with my Miata about a year ago.
