I changed to synthetic around 12,000 miles. Use the "SEARCH" engine and you'll get plenty of opinions.

Whooopass u have 3000 miles already and u bought it after i did? Wow.. heh. i only have 2500 on mine. I'm going to switch to Syth mobil 1 10w-30 @ about 5000 miles for my first change.
I'm going to be putting 1000miles on the car this weekend so i'm getting close. I'm putting my Comptech Exhaust on tomorrow and i'm still sitting on the wait list for my supercharger now too. Sigh

Don't go synthetic below 5K per the Honda owners manual. It is better to wait to 7,500 or 10K when your oil burn is minimal (This indicates the skirt ring -i.e. oil has seated properly). When this occurs exactly varies greatly on this car according to many factors.
The real question is what oil filter are you going with, as it is more important the the oil.

Might also send an email to Blackstone Labs. They will send you sample vials for free. They will FULLY analyze oil samples for $18.50 chemically. If you want a "Hard Particle Count" write it on the shipping container....it costs a little more(highly recommended). Blackstone will maintain on file a historical record of your testings. I have checked their system out and they use Nuclear Magnetic Spectrography for chemical compositions and the ARP patch test for hard particle. Same standards as we use for aircraft. Oil samples are "dissolved" in Kerosene which has a very specific signature.
P.S. For the serious enthusiast you may want to request a double sample kit and also analyze your Limited Slip Differential (LSD), hard particle count is highly recommended here.

What is the damn hurry guys, YOU DON'T WANT SYNTHETIC IN AN ENGINE THAT IS NOT 100% BROKEN IN.
Most Honda vtecs take about 10k miles to break in 100%. This was confirmed by one of the Honda engineers on the Japan trip.
DO NOT CHANGE TO SYNTHETIC BEFORE 10K. If you do your engine won't blow up but you won't have proper seating of the piston rings in the cylinders which MIGHT result in oil consumption and pressure loss which will decrease performance...
Just say NO.
Sorry about the caps, have said this a zillion times already.
