Winters here are not exactly like those in US. -25C is not uncommon and the car stays outside all the time (no indoor parking). Even my '06 Civic required about 5 minutes warm up before the revs started to drop... And that used 5w40 oil. If you drove it from the start in these conditions you could lose the warranty.

Estonia. Winter tires (studded or not) are mandatory from November till March. With newer cars anti-freeze is from the start able to withstand up to -35-40C, so no change is needed. You only have to put the windscreen cleaning liquid rated at least to -21C.
