Default First Oil Change

I did my first oil change last week on Jessica

At first, I was going to jack it up, but close examination indicated that the whole process could be done from the top of the car.

It was very straightforward with only one concern. The wire from the VTEC solenoid:

The connector/wire definitely restricted access. I tried gently to remove the connector was unable. So I carefully worked around it.

I could see where doing this repeatedly could cause the wire to get bent/broken.

For future reference, how do you get the connector off?

thanks

chris

You get the oil filter from the bottom of the motor not the top.

I do all my changes from the top... I do have a mugen intake so there is a bit more clearance than the stock intake box.

squeeze the connnector and pull outwards to remove the clip and get more access to the filter. I have done the filter change from above quite a bit, my only complaint is sometimes it slips out of my hand and splashes into the drain pan below. I just installed an oil pressure gauge so I will have to do it all from the botton from now on.

Thanks for the help. I had to peel the boot back a little bit. Once that was done it came off easily.

Not my choice of a name, but to each his own. He may have his reasons and I see no need to bust on him for it...

I loosen my oil filter and install from the top all the time, much easier if you don't have a lift or jackstands. You can also drain the oil without even jacking up the car but its a pain..

I jack up all 4 sides of the car on jackstands while on level ground to make sure ive drained as much of the oil fluid as possible. I also run new fluid through the fill bolt while drain plug is still off and let it push out any remaining fluids so my oil is as clean as possible. Some may think that's a waste but I don't care I only want the best for my car...
