Hello,
I switched from regular oil to Mobil 1 at around 15K miles and my car is now 18K miles. I am planning to change the oil every 5000 miles. I read somewhere that the filter should be changed at about 3500 miles eventhough the Mobil 1 oil is going to be used longer (say 5-7k miles) . My question is: Can I use the same oil filter for 5000 miles or do I need to replace it in between interval? I read it somewhere before, but I just can't seemed to find it in search. Thanks in advanced.

replace it... u should alaways replace your oil filter when u change your oil

Yeah, I do change the filter at every time I do an oil change. Now that I have just switched to Mobil 1, my question is: Do I need to change the filter (around 3000-3500 miles) eventhough I am using the oil for 5000 miles? or Can I use the filter for the whole duration of 5000 miles. Thanks

obviously some people aren't reading carefully enough
anyways, yeah the oil filter is fine for 5000 mi assuming you're a normal driver.

Road Rage

Quality filters can easily go the 5K distance - if you drive your car every day, i would consider at least 7500 miles before changing out Mobil1. Many of us are seeing 7500 mile OCI's recommended by the 2004 TL's computer with a mineral oil calibration.
