Default Ferodo DS2500 Pads Rear Rattle

Hi

Yesterday I fitted some Ferodo DS2500 pads all round to my 2005 S2000. I now have a rattle, at the rear only, over harsh bumps. Should the fitter have kept the OEM clips on the car with the DS2500 brakes in order to prevent rattling, or is this likely to be something else?

Many thanks

Ben

Which clips do you mean? The stainless steel shims that sit in the brackets or the flat anti-noise ones on the back of the pads? Every honda I've worked on, the bracket shims are required to keep the pad from flopping.

Flat anti-noise ones...But they're not needed on the Ferodo's and the pad doesn't come with them. It has to be something else.

Well, I never used or installed them. My race pads don't have them either. If you used the stainless bracket shims, then they pads aren't going to be flopping. You may want to get your unstaller to check his work.

Thanks for your reply. Do these shims come with the Ferodos or are they with the OEM setup? Can I see them from looking at the wheel, if they are there of course?

Thanks

Yeah, they're pretty obvious. I just went out and looked at mine. There are sheet metal shims between the caliper and the bracket. They stick out 1/4" above the edge of of the bracket. Shiny, thin sheetmetal.

They're OEM.

Thanks for your help anyway
