So my tire decided to eat my fender liner because I seemed to be missing some bolts or tabs.

Is it okay to drive without a fender liner? For how long?
It's probably in my best interest to get a new one huh?

Sorry for the stupid questions, just want to know where I stand.
I wouldn't do it. Your tires fling small road rocks and other crap at yor inner fenders and small rocks at speed will ding your fender (from the bottom up). that liner is all that protects your fender from these types of dings. Some may say "no big deal" but look at the top of your fender, do you want dings on a spot that visible? I sure don't. It doesn't take much to ding those front fenders either.

Still, others will say "well, the rear fenders don't have liners". True but the inner sides of the rear are protected by a half liner of a sort (if you look) and the parts that are not lined are thicker and have an under coating, plus they are not visible. The bumper cap takes hits too but it is plastic and doesn't ding (for the most part).

I just replaced my pass side fender liner. It was about $100 from Majestic Honda online. I got a good look under there. I just wouldn't want to risk it for such a cheap part. You could drive for a year and get lucky and never get a ding or have any issues. Hell, you could prolly pull every plastic under liner and pan off and not have any issues but your risk will go up...

Even though I run without fender liners or the engine guard, I still gotta admit you bring up a valid point.

The cost of replacing an exposed HID ballast is bad enough.

I bought some of those cheaper fender liners on ebay for my honda fit. They are made out of thinner stiffer plastic than OEM and don't hold up quite as well. They do the job but the quality isn't as good.

It is a horrible idea to run with no liner. Mine broke out and within a week my HID ballast was filled with water. That's $150 for a used one

Yeah don't do it. I've got dirt and mud in my fender and getting into my door jams. It's horrible if you daily drive without liners. I've got a pair coming in the mail.

I went for actual OEM after trying a few of those aftermarket replacements actually... They might fit nice on other cars (I.E Fit as another poster above said) but on the S2K's they fit like crap. Total waste of time and money. Bolt holes for those don't match up on both AP1 and AP2 cars and I ended up just Zip Tying mine and forcing clips in a few of the holes just to get it to stay on so I could stop getting dirt on everything. Looked sloppy as hell but worked until I got a good replacement.
