Default Fault or Error codes U1102 and U0122

hi,

I have an 07 AP2 which is still stock except for a Hondata reflash, test pipe, a J's racing exhaust manifold, a pwjdm carbon intake and a j's racing 70 dual exhaust.

Recently a Check Engine Light popped up and the codes read P0113 , P2138 , U0122 and U1102

I got a mechanic to clear all the codes and both P series codes went away. The CEL also stopped displaying.

However, the U series codes remained.

As I found online, the codes meant the following:

U1102 Loss of Serial Communications for Class 2 Devices
U0122 VSA-PCM

I am not sure what the 1st one means and the 2nd one confuses me as my car does not come with VSA. Furthermore the mechanic was not able to clear these 2 codes.

Anyone care to shed some light on this? TIA

P0113 is a comprehensive failure of the Intake Air Temperature sensor (IAT) high voltage circuit.
P2138 is a failure of your Accelerator Position Sensor (APP), sensor 1/2 TPS D/E comparative voltage connection.
-- there are 2 TPS sensors (1 and 2) which monitor high and low voltages on the D an E circuits
--yours are way out which trips DTC 2138

The Ucodes are up the food chain and harder to reset for a reason.
U is network connection failure
--0 is an SAE code (society of automotive engineers)
--1 is a manufacturer code
----1 is air and fuel control
--------02/22 are specific codes which track to specific (exact problem code)
--------These codes track directly to OBD I codes
My guess basedon the info is that when the Hondata gasket was installed you have an air leak or TPS damage/ midwife.
Clearing adaptive memory codes can be difficult but Canberra accomplished by disconnecting the battery for an extended period of time ( I use 2 hours).

My advice would be to have someone find out why you threw the first two codes, correct that, and the U codes will clear themselves.

Fantastic information, thank you!

I never had P0113 show up before. Would it mean my air intake sensor is screwed?

I had P2138 before and replaced the Accelerator sensor module in the engine bay but that was only last year. Could it be that is has gone bonkers again?

I did not have a Hondata gasket installed so I suppose that it should be due to my Accelerator sensor issue.

Issue solved! My car doesn't have VSA but as I had installed a flashpro, the box specifying VSA was not unchecked thus resulting in CEL p2138, u1102 & u0122 being flashed. P2138 was intermittent and a CEL would appear and disappear but u1102 & u0122 would not throw a CEL but operate in the background forcing a CEL every so often.

I speculate that as the VSA operates from wheel speed differences (possibly brought on by sandy/wet/cornering situations) small differences would force the ecu to search for the VSA and when there was no VSA input found, the CEL would flash.

Hope this helps all flashpro users with this issue
