Thumbs up False Full Reading on Fuel Gauge

Folks,

I just had a very strange experience, while driving straight, no corners or acceleration my fuel gauge went from a reading of half full to a reading of 95% full. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this?

I looked and couldn't find any info. on this, if I missed a past thread, I am sorry and if you can direct me to it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Stephen

It happens, check around. I had a similar problem, then it cured itself over a couple days.

I had this happen once slowly pulling into my driveway.

I showed my passenger so I know it really happened. It went back and forth between full and half empty

Has the gauge started behaving normally again?

The gauge has dropped off a bit, and is now reading about 85% full. I know my millage hasn't been that good, I have about 180 miles on this tank, so I should be close to a 25% tank.

Any other thoughts out there as to what might cause this?

Thank you again!

theres a floated on the fuel pump and it could be loose wiring or just a stuck floater. i guess the only real way to know would be to get in there and look at it.
