Failed to shift smoothly.. a possible damage?

Upon further research, it seems like some people are against the idea of having magnetic plugs for these reasons:
1. The magnet itself separates from the bolt. This can potentially cause a lot of issues if it ends up somewhere in the engine / transmission.
2. There is already a built in magnet that takes metal scraps/shards.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this and possibly get something that works well without breaking. Any thoughts?

Its difficult to imagine the strong magnet becoming separated from its strong attachment to the steel drain bolt.
But I don't see the need to use them. the diff already has one. The trans already has its own magnet, just not on the drain plug. The engine has an oil filter. No metal bits are going to get past it, and oil flows thru it before going anywhere. Yeah, some oil is sloshed around, but IMO its not anything to ever worry about (that you would have metal bits flaking off in the first place is way more of an issue than any damage those particles might cause afterwards.)

Edit - yeah that link above shows a good closeup picture of it and you can see it in the picture right above; its on the inner wall at the bottom-right of the picture.
