Koala came over today to have his diff fluid changed out with Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic gear oil.
Here's the "wine glass" comparison - guess which one just came out of the pumpkin? .............................

Here's what the drain plug looked like before wiping:

Here's what came off the end of the plug with a casual wipe:

Here's a close up of the plug and there is still lots of sludge yet to be removed.

I'm not telling you to change it and I'm not saying you shouldn't. That's up to you. Personally, I'd rather have the stuff on the right OUT of my diff and the stuff on the left IN. And since we've all heard how the S2000 diff can be a weak link, is an early change and an annual change thereafter such a bad thing to do?

ps. Site is having photo album issues. If you can't see the pics, try again later. You can try clicking on the red rectangle. It might show up.

Its the first Diff oil change that is the worst. I changed mine at 9000kms and it looked exactly like that. I changed it again at 18,000kms and it came out just like new without the really bad odor. BTW im using Amsoil 80W90

xviper,
I thought you liked Moly. Moly will never look good in a wine glass.

Nice xviper!

2000 miles? I'm going with the 1000 mile first change recommendation for my '04.
