F20c- To rebuild or replace
So I just bought an AP1 from a friend 2 weeks ago. On June 14th, I was driving a the car sputtered and then just died. It wouldn't crank but not start. I called a local mechanic to come check it out for me. After checking all the obvious, he decided to run a compressin test. The results, Cylinder 1- 0 psi, cylinder 2 about 1/4 compression, cylinder 3 good compression, and cylinder 4 about 3/4 compression. He said that be believes the cause of the problem was that the timing chain went out and messed up the motor due to low oil consumption because their was quite a bit of oil from a leak that my so-called friend didn't tell me about until I purchased the vehicle. So, do I rebuild the motor because their is some compression in 3 cylinders or would it be cheaper to just replace it with a F20c???

Why do these engines not get rebuilt like all other engines? Expecially seeing as they are so damned expensive?

OP - I'd look for a low mileage replacement block.

I have another mechanic coming over Sunday to check the severity of the motor. The kid is no longer a friend of mine after 10 years of decent friendship, he blames that I messed with the motor somehow to get it to leak more oil which I did not touch the motor whatsoever. Wish me luck.

Yeah sometimes I think that... but often times it easier said then done.... most of the shops here dont ike to do it and 3 out of the 5 that ive had were modified or beyond repair... the 2 stroked blocks they wouldnt touch and the original f20 was fubar.....

I want the keep the car with the original f20 if possible but if it comes down to it, I'll replace it with another f20c. This is a car I want to keep for a very long time.
