Default F20C Fuel Cutoff RPM?

I was out with my bro last night who drives a swapped MR2-Spyder (2ZZ). I'm sure his car would be good for low 13's in the 1/4 mile...

We were playing around on a backroad and hit a 1/2 mile straight stretch and both went WOT...his car pulled me out of the 2nd gear roll...I hit 3rd and was pulling even with him when I looked down and to my dismay I had already tached out 9K rpms 3rd...and went into 4th. I didn't feel the car hit a fuel cut and I have no idea how far above 9K I went. Where is the fuel cut? What does it feel like if you hit it? I know with my H22A4 powered Prelude hitting fuel cut is not fun...the engine feels like it dies and if you're corning when it happens...can be devasting!

I'm not used a car that revs to the top of each gear this fast!!!

Thanks.

You know when you hit it, the motor just cuts, and then returns as you bounce against it. The AP2 hits it at 8300, so I'd *guess* 9300 for AP1.

IIRC, it is 9200 rpms.

Thanks.

Wow, that's not a lot to play with above the redline.

The Prelude H22A4 Tach shows redline at 7400 rpms but the fuel cut is not until 8200 on that motor.

If the fuel cut feels the same I must have just barely missed hitting it.

Yup, about 9,200. Damage to your engine will occur somewhere of 10,000, Jlude. So the rev limiter keeps you safe.

Exactly, you feel the thing sag if you bang off the rev limiter. It's sloppy driving.

You might want to look at installing Modifry's shift beeper. That will give you a predictable audio clue to the RPMs you're turning while allowing you to focus on the road ahead of you.

That might be handy. With the Prelude I could really hear the engine (perhaps the intake helped) and I knew where the revs were without really having to look at the tach. Perhaps since I've only had the car 10 days and driven it 4 times there's plenty of time to improve driving it.
