Default F20c blue smoke, misfire in cylinder 2- Help?

I recently bought a 2001 S2000 with a little over 60000 kms (first time owner). When I went to test drive it everything seemed fine, it pulled hard and no visible smoke from the tailpipes.

A little over two weeks afterwards, the engine has developed a misfire and billows blue smoke when I get on the gas. I can feel hesitation when I start from a complete stop at a light in first gear and then again when I shift into second. The hesitation seems to go away once I get past 3000 rpm. I had a friend follow and was told that blue smoke comes out of the exhaust whenever I get on the gas.

I've narrowed the misfire down to cylinder 2, but that's about as much as I know so far. I also know that the engine was supercharged at one point by the previous owner, but has since been returned to stock. I don't know what the problem could be....an oil ring perhaps?

At this point, I'm not entirely sure what my options are. I'm considering swapping in a used f20c, but I'm worried about running down the same road with a new engine. I've also exchanged some messages with Billman250 regarding a new short block. A new short block seems preferable as it would essentially be a new engine. I think the current cylinder head should be fine on a new block unless that's where the problem is coming from.

What are you opinions/thoughts?

Thanks

Do a compression and leakdown test

This. Blue smoke=burning oil, so it's getting into the cylinders some how.

I did a compression test and the numbers came back fine. I believe it was 160 cold....unless that isn't fine =/

edit: oh and because the compression came back fine, we didn't do a leakdown test. Would the leakdown test help pinpoint the exact problem?

Sorry, I'm not too mechanically inclined.

160 is low for compression

I think 160, when the engine is cold, is normal. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this. If compression doesn't jump around more than like +/-10 from each cylinder you should be fine.

still kind of low, do a hot compression test, add a bit of oil to the cyl to see if the compression number goes up

Given the low compression number, what would you guys suggest I do?

New short block
Used engine
Rebuild

Which one would be most economical and least time consuming? Or is there another option that needs exploring?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but why don't we do an actual compression test and make sure this isn't an easy fix versus shopping for major components just yet--who knows you might get lucky?

The car should be fully warmed up, 3 bars?

Follow step-by-step here, don't skip any steps:

Give us 4 numbers, not 1.

Yea, please do an actual compression test. It could be a handful of different things from the rings to the valve seals. Let us know what the turn out is though!
