F20/F20C/F20C1 ?!? Engine Help
#11
It isn't that huge of a gamble if you get a used f22. I believe there is some documentation around here somewhere on the parts you would need to swap to make that work. Cams, sensors, etc...

I would steer clear of the JDM engine. From what I recall, they used a higher compression because the fuel over there is of a little higher quality. The last thing you want is to build up a high CR engine only to fuel up with some crappy 10% ethanol 91 octane and run into problems.
If it were my build, I'd go with an F20C1 and swap out springs and retainers with an AP2. 9000rpm is a big part of what the S2000 is all about, and I wish I had it.
Also, beware the F20A4. I had that motor in my EDM Prelude, and it's NOT a motor you want!

The springs do not need to be replaced.

well sh*t should I just get a whole new freaking engine for 4700 instead of going through the hassle of getting a messed up used one?
I actually just found a 2003 S2K motor with 20K on the (no tranny) for 3,800.00... is that a good deal?

Nah, you can get a good used engine, you just need to be able to properly identify whether or not it is good. The parts we've discussed don't necessarily need to be replaced right away. I would replace them before you track the car or go FI.
