Exhaust Wrap question?
I was in nashville the other night, and we were all hanging out and I see an 88-91 Honda Civic Hatchback with an exhaust, but he has all of the piping wrapped with exhaust wrap??? I'm sorry but what's the purpose of having exhaust heat wrap leading to your muffler??? The intake is not in the rear of the car. I just wanted to call this guy a moron, but instead me and jake (dark_sub_rosa) got a great laugh.
what do you guys think??? I could have sworn the wrap is wrapped on headers and other misc piping to keep the heat away from your intake/intakes, but I could be wrong.

"Header wraps" are meant to reduce the heat buildup in your engine bay. The makers of such products claim it can reduce engine bay temps by 20*C to as much as 40*C or more. The other side of the coin is that all this heat stays in the pipes. It's like putting a person with a high fever inside a sleeping bag. Some say this might even crack the header.

Just about every aftermarket header manufacture will not warranty a header(s) for any reason if there is evidence of them being wrapped
Xviper is correct the wrap retains too much heat and tends to crack the tubing
