So, here's a question related to all of this that isn't asked much:
What's a good, light, single exhaust that sounds _as quiet as_ stock? (for those of us who are just fine about the sound but who want weight savings)?

I would hate to beat a dead horse...but I am wondering the same question. I am in the process of having Evolution install a Vortech SC on my car. I already have the Invidia exhaust as well. I am considering putting the stock exhaust back on due to the noise...will I be losing any considerable amount of power by doing so?
I have asked this question several times and no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer. Comptech reccommends that you upgrade to their exhaust and header when you install their SC. My thinkin, why wouldn't they, they make an extra 2 grand. But as you pointed out, is it worth it. In other words for all you SC guys, what is the HP to $ ratio. Foor me to spend alomst another $2000 on a header and exh. i would need to be making at lease another 15 to 20 hp in addition to thte SC, will you make this much power or is the stock exhaust good enough and will only rob you of 5 to 10 hp ?

I have a Vortech with Invidea, it's a little loud but the extra silencers make it bearable for daily use.
Take them out for the track days and you will scare everyone senseless!

please keep us posted of the result sideway
it will be a very interesting finding
given that you gained some benefits with larger exh valves, I personally believe that you may gain more with more flowing exhaust. We'll wait and see. The only possible flaw to your "experiment" is that you are still using exhaust for NA application (ie aroundd 2.5") and it's still uncertain whether they are more free flowing than the oem.
I am planning on installing a single 3" system when my engine is built and if finance allow. I will keep you guys inform too.
