Final Update:

I forgot to put the oil cap back on after topping off with oil.

New Question:

Is there any harm done with having motor oil splash all over the place, basically a 12 inch radius from the oil fill hole.

How about the risk of *stuff* falling into the oil fill hole?

You better buy a test pipe,and a PCV valve,A.S.A.P.

Could it be that not putting the oil cap back on (DOH! ) is why you are smelling fumes thru the vents. Still should change PCV valve tho.

unless u want your engine bay looking like someone dropped a turd in it, clean it up. Use engine degreaser, directions on the can... use good degreaser too not cheap stuff.

I'm not sure but sounds to me like something wrong with the EGR (exhaust gar recurcilation) valve? possible someway?
