Exhaust side Oil Pressure Sensor - Doesn’t Fit?
#11
Hi Schneck - Did you figure this out in the end?
I'm in the middle of installing a remote T-piece from there, Honda is causing big confusion here.
It looks like the factory sender is a tapered thread, but as Billman said the hole is BSP (I believe he meant BSPP parallel thread, cos that's what the SoS kit uses)

BSPP is NOT used. BSPP has parallel (straight) threads and the sensor would have to thread all the way to the block and use a seal between the sensor flange and block.
These should logically be tapered threads and need sealant. Now there are two kinds of tapered threads in inch sized pipe -- NPT (National Pipe Tapered--the US standard for water pipe, gas pipe, etc.) and BSPT (British Standard Pipe Tapered--the more international standard for inch sized pipe).
The two tapered standards are NOT the same. The angle of the taper is different and the thread shape is different. Smaller sizes can sometimes be forced together but the sealing will be shit as will the mechanical strength of the joint. Using one with the other can also damage the threads hence Billman's statement of caution.

The BSPT thread was also adopted in Germany, it got a own DIN Nr.: 2999 (old ) or DIN EN 10266-1 / DIN EN 10226-2. Just to add a littel bit more confusion....
The Female Thread (engine Block) is straight, the male thread (oil pessure switch) is conical.
