Default Exhaust is really dark

The insides of my exhaust are Really dark/black and if I wipe my finger on the dark area, its much darker than what I wiped on our odyssey and civic. I'm on the stock exhausts. I think it wasn't this dark before either.

This is an interesting thread. Just a statement on how an exhaust pipe is dirty on the inside. No questions or anything.

Better take it to the dealer!

Carbon build up. Our cars runs rich. It's just something you have to live with.

Sorry, I meant to ask a question. Structured that horribly.

I've got a sebring silver, my bumper accumulates lots of that carbon dust all over it. I've never seen a car that has clean exhaust tips, but this car does seem to put out a bit more carbon than others. My best guess is that these cars run rich when you get deep into the accelerator to keep things cool in the cc.

Are you sure your car didn't have a testpipe installed previously? Are your exhaust tips black on the outside?

When I first got the car, it looked pretty normal (exhaust tips silver, inside sort of dark but still can see some color). It had a dark part on the bottom of the inside ( think of pouring water down a cylinder at a slight angle ), like dark residue.

Now it's just pitch black on the insides, kind of like dark powder or brake dust-looking

The previous owner just used to keep it clean. normalsauce.

edit--
^unless you drive it stupid, if youre low RPM, hard on throttle the engine shoots a little more fuel into intake chamber and since air intake doesnt change much, you get more fuel -> runs richer -> more carbon.
