Exhaust Less Than 6mo Old Cracks
Well, I paid good money for an exhaust and had it professionaly installed. After less than 6mo of use it cracked.
These are post repair pics.
The story is this...
My GF thinks that the exhaust it too loud. So, to be nice, I put the silencer on because we had a long drive ahead of us. I get on the hwy, vtec a couple of times and the BAM! the silencer shoots out of the back like a missle. It must have shot back at least 10ft. I started to notice a funny sound from the bottom of car but ignored it for a week; thinking I was being paranoid. But, I checked it out and I'll be damned it break at phlange were it connects to the cat. I have contaced the dealer for this product and, as of now, things are not resolved to my satisfaction.
Is there a chance that this was my fault? I have not run over any potholes nor bottomed out the car. I was thinking that the backpressure from the silencer did it. Any thoughts....
Thanks

I don't think slipping in the sliencers will create enough back-pressure to crack stainless steel or the metal used for production of your exhaust. I believe this is a defect in the product and the company should resolve it for you. The only possible way I think you can do the damage is by bottoming out the exhaust. Keep us posted. This is very interesting, I have never seen anything like this before. Hope everything works out for you.

Thanks Fly
I will post more pics tomarrow that show the muffler doesn't have a single scratch on it i.e. never bottomed out. I really hope the company takes care of this. Like I said, I was REALLY happy with it prior to this.

If there are no external damage from hitting something then it is a manufacturing defect (faulty weld). They should replace the pipe. No way should a silencer have any effect on flange welds. If they do not support their product and give you a replacement, let us know what manufacturer and who you got it from so we can avoid them in the future.
