Exhaust Leak Question
Hey guys, I installed a brand new invidia q300 dual exhaust on my s2000 today. I took it out for a 15 minute drive to see how it sounds (and it sounds very good btw) and all was fine. A few hours later I started the car and let it idle so i could see how it sounds. While it was running, i looked under the car to see if anything was leaking and i saw a little bit of water dripping from where the catalytic converter meets the exhaust (the side towards the back of the car). I have a gasket in there that came with the system and it was tightened up well. Is this normal to have water dripping (not a lot, and about every 15 seconds) from there?

Thats normal for a new exhaust. After it gets some use, carbon will actually build up and plug the leak. If you see this on an older exhaust, it means the gasket between the cat and midpipe has rusted away enough that the carbon can't plug the gap and the gasket needs to be replaced.

youre going to hate that exhaust once you get a few months and a couple thousand miles on it...i loved mine at first, now its just annoying and sounds extremely ricey...but its all good because i have to get a new exhaust for next season anyway since the club that puts on the auto-x events i attend said i cant run it due to the decibel rating

Yah i've heard with a test pipe it sounds very raspy but right now with the stock cat it sounds very good. So you guys think that this leak is normal? Is it true that carbon will build up and block the leak after awhile?

yes, and its also going to change the tone of the exhaust
