Here are a couple of pics of my rear right wheel hub in its current state. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this happening to an S2K? The wheel is still in good shape with a few minor scrapes.
On close inspection of the hub it appears that there was an initial crack that developed without full failure then yesterday (Fri) while at Sears Point in a very high G turn it completely failed. I figure that the initial crack developed due to one of the offs i've had at the track.
And a victory shot

IMPRESSIVE!
A similar thing happened to me at an autocross in my '91 Integra (CSP), except that it was my wheel that broke, instead of the hub. It was a light weight racing wheel (front), and the center broke away. The only real damage was to my brake rotor that supported the car for ~40'.

How's the rest of the suspension after the incident? Looks like part of it hit the grass...
I guess that's something to add to the pre-track checklist - when the wheels are off to put on the race tires, take off the rotors and check the hubs underneath.

The rest of the suspension looks fine except for the castle nut on the bottom of the knuckle. As for the crack it would not have been visible from the front of the hub as it had not yet progessed to that surface. It could have been visible from the rear of the hub but i dont know just how visible it would be. You can see that the fracture surface has rust on the original portion of it and the new fracture is shiny. Also notice that the old fracture only surfaces at the rear of the hub.

Hell of a way to start the new season Dave. Holy crap Batman, that was one of the last parts that I thought would fail... Thank goodness you didn't find one of those walls!
