I replaced mine with a Denso one from ebay, works perfectly well. don't bother with proper socket there is no room. You want a very high quality spanner, ring type preferably as it will be very tight. I used a stilson wrench and an extension tube for leverage.
you will need the hands of a 10 year old to get to the wire connectors

^ this. I think I used a big 7/8ths wrench to get mine off.

I tried using a cut open normal ring spanner before but it would flex way to much to be able to loosen the sensor.
This kind of flare nut spanner (wrench in the US?) is the best tool to use.

Yes, we call that a wrench. A tool used to wrench things free. What is origin of spanner? What is it spanning?

Yes, we do call that flavor of wrench a flare nut wrench. Used to loosen flare nut fittings, like brake lines. I'm shocked anyone makes one that large!

English is only my second language and I'm mostly schooled in the British version
I think spanner originates from the German word spannen which translates to tighten.
Seems wrench is only used in North America https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrench

This 100%! It was the hardest thing about the whole job. Undoing and redoing the connectors and clips.

I bought the Denso bundle primary and secondary 02. It has been working well for me.

The sensors are 22mm and as mentioned above, an 02 socket will not fit for the primary.

i usually use a needle nose to release the 02 connector from it's mounting bracket, then i can use both hands to release the clip. one arm on each side of the transmission--one hand holding the clip and other hand reaching over the top of the transmission from the opposing side of the 02 sensor and should be pretty easy.

Honestly a lot of swearing helps. I found the more swearing i did the more i managed to manoeuvre my hand in the rage.
I couldn't fit my hand and pliers where i needed it to be, additionally i struggled with lighting as my hands would cast a shadow and i couldn't position the light in a manner that was useful.

i chose not to remove the clip with the connector was in fear that i couldn't put it back.

@chris_lum are you on your back or is the car on a hoist?

Getting the connector loose from the mounting bracket first is the way to go. I think a small flat head screwdriver worked best for me.
