EVA Monitor won't run on 2006?
#11
Last night I took the gas tank to 3/4 full to prep for another run today. It was a bit over half before so I doubt it was a problem. Today I ran the car the way the Honda users manual said. The EVAP readiness code still did not clear. I still have no trouble codes. I began to wonder if the EVAP readiness code ever has cleared. So I looked at my inspection paper from last year and saw that it indeed had cleared for that test. So I guess sooner or later I guess it will clear. I gave up and went for inspection. As expected, it passed with the one EVAP readiness code not cleared. So I'm legal on the road again which was the goal.
I am a bit amazed at running the car for over 120 miles and still haven't gotten the EVAP test run. Seems pretty bad design to me. Can't imagine why the test must be so picky about when to run. I guess it's trying to measure very small potential leaks in the system but seems like it should be easier than this. Maybe I should have tried the tongue out, the eye closed and the peace sign
One last thing - thanks for the comments guys. They got me to thinking about stuff and doing some more research which eventually led me to the Texas law about being able to pass with one readiness code uncleared + the honda owner's manual description of the test drive. Always good to have others making you think a bit more!
