Hi folks,
Been driving my car daily normally and one day all of a sudden the revs stayed at about 3500 rpms with virtually zero throttle input and when i stepped a little on the gas it felt like the car was not responding.
Worried, I shut down the car and restarted, only to get an engine check light. I dropped my car off at the workshop and they ran a diagnostic to give me 2 readings:
61-1 battery failure (I had a battery die on me about 6 mths ago so I think I know why this popped up)
P2138 TPS/PPS/D,E Volt Correlation
My oil was a bit low and I was about 5000 miles so they changed it out. The mechanic said that the check light could be due to a low oil level (which I think I really doubt)
My plugs were a bit old >25,000 kms so he suggested that it might be a slight misfire due to old plugs.
My car has no other mods except for a j's catback exhaust (catalytic converter still intact, air filter is stock Honda)
After clearing the codes and the oil change, the check light disappeared. The next day I drove normally and all was fine. However, the following day the check light came on. I made arrangements to get the car sent down again but as I was driving to the shop, the light went off and stayed off.
So far, the light has stayed off for the past week.
I would probably change out the plugs but do you guys think that will solve the issue? Could I have a failing TPS sensor or something indicated in the code reading?

Low oil will not create a CEL unless MY'07 have an oil level monitor (I don't think so though)
(well.. it can but the oil had to be really low, followed by the oil pressure warning light and the CEL will say: missfire on all 4 = bad crank bearings = engine toast )
25k km on S2k plugs is about 1/4 of what they can do, no need to change.
Missfire codes are different from TPS codes.
Maybe just disconnect the TPS, clean with electrical connector cleaner and try again?

Good idea. I'll try that first. The oil pressure didn't fall and the oil light didn;t come on as well. I wouldn't bother arguing with the mechanic though, they're from a big (well known) shop and probably would never admit when they were wrong.
If at worst case, I need to swop my TPS, would it be expensive?

Well.. if he/she insists replacing perfecty fine sparkplugs at 20 Euro / piece, you should.
Bring your owners manual to show the 100k service on spark plugs.
I don't know what a TPS will cost in your country, usually OEM Honda parts are expensive, yes.
I wouldn't bother arguing with the mechanic though

Hey guys: I went back to the shop and confronted them why an oil change and spark plug change was recommended to solve this error code. Granted, it was my fault for being too rushed and panicky to solve the error (was willing to try pretty much everything) but it was just bad advice on their part.
The chief mechanic told me that the intermittent code (which is gone for good now) could be caused by just dirt and a skipping of the signal but would not be serious unless it was persistent which would then require a change of TPS sensor. I questioned him why an oil change was recommended and he was apologetic. Anyway it was just 1000 miles from my oil change interval so I didnt make too much fuss but that shop is pretty much off my list permanently since I've found a place that will help me clear codes FOC.
