EPS warning light and loss of speedo
The dash EPS warning light came on today while I was on track. I believe EPS is power steering .... correct me if I'm wrong. I lost my speedometer at the same time ... still has full power, RPMs still display correctly ... speedo just reads 0.
Any ideas why EPS and speedo would go at the same time?

ps Sad part is my AEM EMS is set to check speed and rev limits the car at 4800 RPM, if there is none ... I thought it was a bit cheesy of a feature, but being a gadget dork I took advantage of it. Since I didn't take my laptop out ... I was done for the day.

The EPS system needs a speed sensor input to function, as does the cluster for the speedo to work. Since you are running an EMS, there isn't a way to easily hook up a Honda scan tool and pull the code. ( you can, but it requires 2 S2k's and hot swapping the tester)
I'd jump the pins on the DLC and get a flash code.
Either you've got a bad sensor in the trans, wiring damaged to the sensor, a faulty cluster or goofed up yellow box wiring.

Got gears? Got a Yellow box? If the anwsers to these questions are yes, check the connections. All four. I have had the same issue and it was the power leads on mine. Alittle solder and things have been normal for the past year. Things were fine for the year before, then it started. Fix it. year latter no issue.

Hey Mike,
Mine just did the same thing the other day and it was my power connection to the Yellow Box.
My car also wouldn't allow me to go past 4K RPM, NO change in Mileage, No MPH, Gas Gauge would change, and of course the 2 you listed.

I was way concerned on track when it happened. First thing I noticed was the loss of power. After a few seconds I realized that it was the EMS rev limiter kicking in.

In his case, it was just a bad connection, In my case it was the same thing. I used crimp on connectors and after about 1yr, the connections became intermitant. I could push on the kick panel and it whould start to work again.
So do you have an Yellow box?

Yes, I have a yellow box. Mine is installed under the console. I've double-checked and it is not a power issue.
Up in the air it goes to check out the sensor.
