Default EPS not working after clutch job

I just finished replacing my clutch on my '03 S2000 and when I started the car up my power steering didn't work.

I've had the battery disconnected for several months and as I was putting everything back together I noticed that the plug to the steering rack was disconnected. I connected it, hooked up the battery and started the car. The EPS light goes on when I turn the key and doesn't go off when the car is running. There is no power (hard to turn the wheel).

Would this be because I need to reset the Torque Sensor Neutral Position or is it something else? Is this common when it's disconnected for a long time?

What is the DTC code from the EPS light? Try relearning the torque position because you have to re-learn it every time the gearbox is disconnected.

Thanks!

I'll have to check the DTC code. Nice to know that the torque position has to be relearned when the rack is disconnected.

Did you disconnect the two EPS electrical plugs prior to dropping the subframe? If not, there is a chance you damaged those plugs as they separated themselves with force.

Two electrical plugs? I only know of one electrical plug that connects to the steering rack near the torque sensor. Where is the other plug? That might be my problem.

I'm getting DTC codes 14 and 22. I haven't had time to look into this so I've been driving my car without power steering. It's not terrible but I need to get this fixed eventually. TIA.

14 = Open or short to body ground in the TQ sensor circuit
22 = Something is wrong with the vehicle speed sensor, meaning the EPS unit is having trouble determining vehicle speed.

Based on the fact you did a clutch job, and the codes you're pulling I'm guessing you either partially broke a connection, or something happened to the EPS unit. Maybe it shorted to ground. If all the connections are solid, you'd have to test that you're getting a corresponding voltage to the EPS unit from the VSS when you turn the wheels. I think it's the it's the middle top pin on the 14p connector of the EPS unit. You test that to body ground and spin one wheel and see if the voltage pulses. If it does then there's either something wrong with the EPS unit, or there's a loose connection somewhere, or an open to ground. Either from the EPS unit to the TQ sensor, or to the VSS. If your speedo works then we can pretty much rule out the VSS so most of what I said is moot.

He's talking about the EPS unit that's near the battery, there are two connectors for it.
