i turn on my car one day and all of a sudden the eps doesnt work anymore. i search about the eps light and read that it sometimes goes away after you drive a certain amount of miles. ive driven it more than 50 miles but it still hasnt gone away.

i took it to some local shop but they said they dont know how to fix it. my dad called his mechanic friend up and asked about it and he said the motor might be broken. how can i tell if this is true or not? his shop is like 1 hour away and he said that the part alone cost 400$ used.

is there anything i should do before getting it replaced? is the motor really that expensive?

The reason I ask about the speedo is because there is a sensor on the tranny that tells the speedo and the EPS how fast the car is going. If that sensor goes bad the speedo wont work and the ESP doesn't know how fast the car is going.
